Light Cycle Oil (LCO), a by-product of the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit, is generally used as a blend-stock to reduce the viscosity of heavy oil. However, LCO can be converted to higher valued ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) by being treated together
with straight-run light gas oil (SR-LGO) in a hydro-desulfurization (HDS) unit.
The CT-HBTTM catalyst can treat a higher LCO/SR-LGO ratio feedstock compared with conventional alumina catalysts, and as a result, can contribute to the efficient use of energy resources and improve refinery profitability.

*CT-HBTTM catalyst can also be applied to a kerosene HDS.

・The innovative CT-HBTTM catalyst support consists of nano-sized alumina particles coated with titania, and this titania coating brings higher HDS activity.
・Refineries that use the CT-HBTTM catalyst in their HDS unit can treat challenging feedstocks which include up to approximately 30% LCO.
