Our Crisis Management System

Chiyoda positions 'Crisis Management' as generic term of prediction and prevention of contingency and crisis event, performing appropriate initial response in case of crisis event, preparation and drill under usual condition and business continuity planning activities after the initial response.

We established 'Information Security・Crisis Management Section' inside SQEI Dept. and engages in various crisis management activities to ensure safety of our group employees, partner companies' employees and their families under the basic policy 'Giving the highest priority to human lives who involve in our business'.

Main Tasks of Crisis Management

Domestic Crisis Management

  • Collect, analyze, and distribute risk information
  • Operations related to Self-Defense Disaster Prevention Team
  • Management of equipment, etc. in preparation for major disasters
  • Operations related to safety confirmation in the event of a large-scale disaster
  • Operations related Business Continuity Management (BCM).
  • Planning and implementation of initial response drills in the event of a major earthquake

Overseas Crisis Management

  • Collect, analyze, and distribute risk information
  • Conducting pre-screening of overseas travel for our company's managementand employees to risky areas
  • Establish criteria for selecting airline companies
  • Monitor the deployment status of executives, employees, and similar personnel dispatched overseas, alert them according to the situation, or confirm their safety.
  • Providing advice on security risk assessment and safety measures for overseas projects
  • Safety management support for overseas offices and residences for overseas expatriates
  • In-house educational activities to raise awareness of risk management among executives and employees (e.g., conducting seminars, distributing information, etc.)

Large Project Execution Area

Our group is carrying out large projects in some areas (Qatar and USA as of 2025) and many of our group employees, employees of partner companies and their families are staying in the areas. We are always updating the security information of the areas and conduct regular safety confirmation drills and we always keep the basic policy in mind, "Giving the highest priority to human lives who involve in our business" in our risk management.

Domestic disaster prevention measures

Our group prepared large scale disasters response manual in which actions to take by the people working for our group such as our executives, employees, temporary employees, customers, partners are compiled at the time of large scale disasters. When disaster happens, disaster prevention response task force is launched and emergency contact route is established and safety of our employees and their family will be checked firstly. In preparation for disasters, drinking water, emergency rations, blankets and other emergency supplies are kept on hand and helmets and emergency bags have been distributed to all the people working for our group. In addition Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is installed in each floor in our Global HQ for the preparation for unforeseen circumstances. Emergency drill is conducted twice a year at Global HQ and Koyasu Office・Research Park and safety confirmation drill is also conducted regularly to all our employees.

About BCM(Business Continuity Management)

Our company has introduced 'Business Continuity Management (BCM)' aiming to obtain business continuity ability in case of crisis event and is maintaining and reinforcing business continuity system.

'Business Continuity Management (BCM)' is management process which was introduced to build organizational resilience and to increase the ability to protect the stakeholders' interests and company activities in preparation for actualization of threats to our group.

Based on the top management commitment, our company operates system to utilize company-wide business continuity PDCA cycle through alignment between risk managers of each division and BCM secretariat and to be verified by SQEI Management Committee which is management system deliberative body
