VPP/DR
Promoting VPP/DR - Advanced Energy Management
Chiyoda promotes initiatives such as Virtual Power Plants (VPP) and Demand Response (DR) in the reevaluation of conventional energy supply systems, which rely heavily on large-scale power plants, and the development of mechanisms to utilize distributed energy resources from consumers in the power system, to address inconsistent power output from weather dependent renewable energy sources.
VPP utilizes advanced energy management technology through the Internet of Things (IoT) to aggregate and remotely control distributed energy resources from consumers. Similar to a single power plant, it allows for the adjustment of the supply and demand balance and is important for load leveling, absorbing excess supply from renewable energy sources and providing power during shortages.
DR refers to the ability of distributed energy resource owners or third parties to control these resources and change power demand patterns as needed, referred to as ‘flexibility’.
Chiyoda acts as an aggregator, utilizing VPP and DR to optimize market trading strategies for flexibility and electricity trading, applying our engineering expertise to enhance the operation of distributed energy resources and provide solutions that maximize economic benefits.
