Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
Front End Engineering Design (FEED) follows Feasibility Studies or Conceptual Designs as the basic engineering, focusing on technical requirements and high-level cost estimates. FEED is normally awarded to integrated engineering and construction organizations, such as Chiyoda, with the required range of engineering expertise and project execution experience, either through direct negotiation or via competitive bidding and who subsequently compile and submit a ’FEED Package’ to the customer as the basis of bidding the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC); the next project stage.
Chiyoda’s ‘One Team’ project execution philosophy ensures collaboration and close communication with the customer throughout the entire project life cycle, ensuring that customer needs and project requirements are incorporated into conceptual, FEED and EPC designs to avoid significant changes between stages. Depending on the complexity and scale of a project, FEED may take twelve months (for a large scale LNG plant) and it is common for client personnel to be seconded to Chiyoda’s offices during FEED.
