Chiyoda has constructed a facility to produce aroma products such as paraxylene, benzene, and light naphtha, with imported condensate (natural gas-associated crude oil) as raw materials, for Kashima Aromatics Co., Ltd., a joint venture among Japan Energy Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (current Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation) and Mitsubishi Corporation.
This production facility of petrochemical products has the dual purpose of efficiently producing aroma products and producing light naphtha, a raw material for petrochemical products from low-priced condensate. The facility boasts one of the largest production capacities in Japan, of approximately 520,000 tons of paraxylene and 230,000 tons of benzene a year.
