Chiyoda is executing the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for installing SAF production facilities in Taiyo Oil Co., Ltd. (Taiyo Oil) Okinawa Operations.
Taiyo Oil is aiming to supply 200,000 KL of SAF and Renewable Diesel (RD) annually using Ethanol to Jet Technology* on the premises of Taiyo Oil's Okinawa Operations, contributing to the Japanese government's FY2030 SAF supply target, equivalent to ‘at least 5% of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions of jet fuel produced and supplied in Japan in FY2019’ and ’replacing 10% of the fuel used by domestic airlines with SAF’. Taiyo Oil’s SAF production project has been selected as a subsidized project under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's ‘Subsidy for Promotion of Transition to a Decarbonized, Growth-Oriented Economic Structure (Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Manufacturing and Supply Chain Development Support Project)’.
- Producing SAF from ethanol. The SAF is certified as ASTM Standard D7566 Annex 5.
Chiyoda will apply its technical capabilities and 70 year experience in oil and gas plant engineering to conduct the FEED for implementing the facilities in Taiyo Oil Okinawa Operations and the decarbonization of aviation fuel.
