Large Solid Electrolyte Pilot Plant in Chiba, Japan

Chiyoda is executing an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Idemitsu) for a large solid electrolyte pilot plant, aimed at the practical application of All-Solid-State lithium-ion batteries.

The project is part of Idemitsu's goal of practical use of All-Solid-State batteries by 2027-2028, primarily for electric vehicles to enhance range, reduce charging time and improve safety. The pilot plant is expected to produce hundreds of tons of solid electrolytes annually.

This project is an EPC work that follows the Basic Design work^*1 carried out by Chiyoda.

Chiyoda also completed the small-scale demonstration plant for solid electrolytes in 2025^*2 and is working on a large-scale production facility for lithium sulfide, with completion expected in 2027^*3.
