Contributing to economic development and industrial infrastructure in Qatar

In vast Ras Laffan Industrial City, located 60 kilometers north of Doha in Qatar, the LNG plant with 14 trains owned by Qatargas and RasGas (of which Chiyoda is responsible for the FEED of 14 trains and EPC of 12 trains) is operating.

This project is an expansion plan (Phase 2) of a refinery that processes the ultra-light crude known as “condensate,” produced from the plant and manufactures naphtha, jet fuels, light oils, propane, butane, etc.

Condensate and natural gas liquids (NGL) used to be exported without refining as blending components, mainly to adjust the viscosity of heavy crude oils, but this refinery has been established to make them value-added products.

Products manufactured at the Second Laffan Refinery in Qatar, which are compatible with more stringent international environmental standards, will be supplied to the expanding domestic and international markets.

With the construction of this refinery, the Chiyoda Group has contributed to the further economic development and building of industrial infrastructure in the State of Qatar.
