International Standard for Information Management System of BIM - Acquisition of "BIM BSI Kitemark" Certification Based on ISO 19650

Jan 15, 2026 Information

Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) is pleased to announce that it has obtained the "BIM BSI Kitemark" certification from BSI Group Japan (British Standards Institution), based on the international information management standards for BIM*1, ISO 19650-1 and ISO 19650-2.

This certification verifies that Chiyoda's information management and execution systems for projects utilizing BIM comply with international standards. With this certification, project stakeholders can effectively share and reference BIM information across various specialties, allowing for seamless data exchange from planning through design, procurement, and construction. This enables project execution in line with principles similar to those of BIM Level 2*2.

Moving forward, Chiyoda will continue to enhance its project execution utilizing BIM, providing high-quality EPC services. We are committed to contributing to the development of a sustainable society under our purpose of "Enriching Society through Engineering Value."

About ISO 19650

ISO 19650 is an international standard that defines the concepts and principles of information management throughout the lifecycle of construction assets utilizing BIM. It aims to facilitate the design, construction, and operational processes using digital information through BIM and stipulates the "general principles of information management" for BIM implementation. The contents specified in ISO 19650-1 and ISO 19650-2 are as follows:

•    ISO 19650-1:2018: Information management using building information modelling: Part 1 Concepts and principles.
•    ISO 19650-2:2018: Information management using building information modelling: Part 2 Delivery phase of the assets.

  1. BIM stands for Building Information Modeling, a method that integrates and manages all information related to a building throughout its design, construction, and maintenance processes using 3D models.
  2. In the UK, BIM maturity is categorized into levels 0 to 3. Since 2016, the UK government has required construction suppliers bidding on central procurement projects, including buildings and infrastructure, to operate at BIM Level 2.
