Chiyoda DX Initiative

Company-wide Acceleration of DX

Initiatives and Progress of the Chiyoda DX Initiative

Corporate Transformation: Company-wide Operational Execution Platform

The company-wide operational execution platform enables all operations to be carried out on a single platform, allowing executives and all employees to share continuously updated and structured data. This facilitates advanced management control, governance, and appropriate risk management. It serves as the foundation for promoting revenue stabilization and diversification as outlined in the ‘Management Plan 2025.’ Furthermore, the company-wide operational execution platform is closely integrated with the ‘Digital EPC Platform,’ promoting information sharing with external partners and contributing to improved productivity across the industry.

Co-Creation of Social Value

We are driving the ‘EPC Business Transformation,’ which executes projects in a data-centric manner, thereby enhancing ‘Business Agility.’ In addition, leveraging our proprietary Core AI technology, the ‘AI Process Simulator,’ as a driving engine, we contribute to ‘Business Safety’ through ‘Operational Support’ and create ‘Business Innovation’ through ‘Social Implementation.’

Foundation of EPC Business Transformation: Digital EPC Platform

Projects of various scales are executed in a data-centric way, with project data accumulated and interconnected. Progress from design to completion and handover is centrally managed, and automation of operations is promoted. This enables rapid response to changes during project execution and optimizes and accelerates the process up to plant handover. These efforts not only benefit our company but also contribute to improving our customers’ ‘Business Agility.’

Operational Support Solution: plantOSTM

plantOSTM is a comprehensive hybrid O&M transformation solution that supports plant operation, maintenance, and production enhancement. It combines cutting-edge digital technologies—such as AI, 2D/3D digital twins, and IoT—with physical services tailored to on-site operations and real-world plant conditions.
As a solution unique to Chiyoda, with expertise and proven experience in both digital and physical domains, plantOSTM delivers ‘Business Safety’ to plant owners.

Social Implementation Solution: Scale-Up Digital Twin

This is a solution only Chiyoda can deliver, leveraging AI-based process simulation technology to accelerate DX in life sciences and carbon neutrality.

The ‘Culture Digital Twin,’ derived from our Scale-Up Digital Twin, significantly shortens the traditionally lengthy period required to scale up manufacturing processes from laboratory level to production level. By harnessing this capability, we have been partnering early in groundbreaking new drug development processes with pharmaceutical manufacturers and academia.

Furthermore, ‘EXCALIO,’ developed from the Scale-Up Digital Twin, is an innovative platform that integrates engineering simulation models, AI models, and mathematical optimization technologies. Achieving decarbonization requires introducing facilities equipped with new technologies, but evaluating their economic feasibility is complex and challenging. EXCALIO enables instantaneous, integrated optimization of the entire P2X* chain—including CAPEX and OPEX—for facility economic assessments.

By leveraging EXCALIO, we co-create with customers conducting economic evaluations, dramatically reducing the time required for assessments from several months to a fraction of that.

Engine for Operational Support and Social Implementation: AI Process Simulator

We have independently developed an AI Process Simulator specialized in the field of chemical engineering by leveraging our proprietary data assets—knowledge and data from fluid analysis within plants—as a learning environment. This technology can be applied to various fluid reactions in closed environments.
As examples of solutions, we have improved production efficiency in LNG plants and significantly shortened the evaluation and design processes for new drug manufacturing.

Partnership

We are advancing co-creation with a wide range of companies and organizations across three key areas: ‘EPC Business Transformation,’ ‘Operational Support,’ and ‘Social Implementation.’
Below are some examples.

Foundation for Strengthening Our Initiatives

Development of DX Core Human Resources

DX Core Human Resources refer to members who play a central role in driving business transformation through company-wide DX. By planning and executing transformation initiatives while engaging internal and external stakeholders, we are expanding our pool of DX Core Human Resources and fostering a DX mindset across all employees.
To develop DX Core Human Resources, the CDO Office—the organization leading company-wide DX—takes the lead in implementing the following measures across the company:

DX Training for Executives

To ensure leadership in transformation, DX training was provided to 18 executive members.

DX Core Human Resources Training

  1. Learn: Classroom sessions combined with workshops and project exercises based on real business challenges
  2. Practice: Planning and executing concrete DX initiatives within their departments, reinforcing skills through hands-on practice
  3. Feedback: Evaluating the implementation of DX initiatives in operations and assessing communication and engagement capabilities both quantitatively and qualitatively

Encouraging Certification

To foster AI Human Resources, we promote acquisition of the E-Certificate established and managed by the Japan Deep Learning Association (JDLA).
In FY2024, two additional members earned the certification, bringing the cumulative total to 20.

Support for Trainees

The CDO Office regularly follows up on DX Human Resources activities to support continuous growth.

Citizen Development Achievements (Company Group as of end of September 2025)

Through these initiatives, we emphasize learning, applying, evaluating, and supporting, as we unite company-wide efforts to advance DX.

Strengthening Information Security

Given the significant social importance of the facilities we construct or support in operation, we regard strengthening security across our entire business infrastructure—including IT platforms and network systems—as a critical element in executing our DX initiatives.

Based on this approach, we implement the following measures:

Through these activities, we strive to avoid risks and minimize their impact.

In addition, regarding AI, we take the following steps to ensure safety, transparency, reliability, and confidentiality in its use:
